The Benefits of Pond Scum?

About the mid 1960’s my Grandfather, Ralph A. Hamilton held patients to nearly ten inventions, one being a downward Heat pipe energy storage system that he try in the late 70’s and early 80’s to market. It was in many people’s eyes one alternative to solving the needs of this country. However the time was not right, and it was not commercially viable.

There are many people in today’s world with so-called alternatives to heating our homes, running our cars and fueling the basic needs of our society. Not all are reasonable, but not all are practical.

We have discovered that government creates more problems in solving our basic energy needs than can be help. The Current Market system is our solution and running to government as some of our Liberal friends is fallacy just creates more problems. The real solution is to cut these oil, and energy companies loose, giving them one assignment and one assignment only and that is provide our needs in this country.

In someways, you can see what the end product a government mandates. Years ago government requires the oil industry to blend 2 to 10 percent ethanol into our gas for what they claim was for the environment. This requirement they did not recognized that corn to ethanol would interfere with food sources.

We face complicated challenges in switching to ethanol, which has numerous logistical difficulties in its transport. Unlike MTBE, ethanol cannot be shipped through pipelines. Ethanol is also currently more expensive than gasoline.

Of course, they are many other types of Non food crop fuels some claim would help. Many biofuel companies are trying to develop methods for making ethanol from wood chips, grasses, or agricultural wastes, rather than corn. And One being algae among others.

A very good liberal friend mine, who I respect ask me to look into algae. Yes, that pond scum or algae has a relatively high energy density compared to soybeans, and it's a non-food crop, removes large amounts of carbon dioxide from the air, and it grows fast.

But for all of algae's promise, the technology to make fuel still remains experimental. And the biggest challenge facing any biofuel company is cost. Anybody can grow algae if cost is no object. Lots of algae companies have done a great job, but the system doesn't look like a massively scalable system

Alge grows in water and a company would need to product enough water to meet the needs of these many farms and they would have to be located in sunny, hot places to speed up the drying since algae is 98 percent water.

So where is the water going to come from? Certainly hot, dry places never have a allot of water to spare and water table in states like Nevada, Arizona Utah and New Mexico is extremely low. Drying would be easy. “Water” now that is another problem.

In one 1996 report that an area around the size of the U.S. state of Maryland -- approximately 15,000 square miles would be enough to cultivate enough algae to serve the entire transportation needs of the U.S. And again how much food crops would be displace?

And in a 1996, the DoE estimated that it would cost twice as much to produce algae-sourced biodiesel than it would gasoline.
The University of New Hampshire's (UNH) Biodiesel Group estimates it could cost as much as $308 billion to build enough farms across the U.S. to meet these production levels and another $47 billion to run them. and along with that UNH says the technology isn't yet available to produce the yields algae are capable of producing.

But with all this we cannot estimate the time it would take develop such technology that and since ethanol handling and shipping is expensive and may not feasible to make that switch. And also the time to produce such a product would be longer than to produce a well in Alaska or for that matter anywhere else in the U.S. And many other problems exist but the return of a investment to the company that produces the product.

Yes, there are many questions out there and yes there many well-meaning people like liberal friend and my Grandfather. But since it took nearly a two thousand years to go from Olive or whale oil to a hundred years to petroleum base economy it would questionable that we could go to a alternative in ten short years.

The answers are not nationalizing or for that matter to demonized the oil companies. Good or bad we need to the oil companies and at this point we need to look to all solutions. We cannot look to the government for the solution, we can and should look to private enterprise to do so.

As I said above biofuels may not be the way to go and ethanol may never be a real solution except in the minds of a few zealots. Of course we would always have people who would protest even the most workable alternative. Reminds one recently of a town in Cape Cod who wants to place Wind turbines offshore to generate power , only to have one powerful family to protest them being place there because it might ruin their view of the ocean. Meanwhile that same family was pumping oil into that very same ocean from their yacht.

We need a workable alternative, not a fallacy of over expectations or dreams!

The Real Change!

Was there a speech yesterday by Barak Obama? This morning as I turned on the TV I suddenly discover that for some reason there wasn’t much to be said about it.

What News there was, was about the election of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate and Vice President Choice.

Any bounce Obama received was lost this morning by John McCain. The speech Obama gave was the same old stump speech Obama has made over and over again, which again included a slight reference to his race.


As for Palin she is a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, hunts, shoots, and fishes.
Her Husband Todd holds a commercial fishing license for salmon. In the mid-1990s, when he got a job working on Alaska’s North Slope, Palin decided to occupy herself by becoming mayor of Wasilla, the state's fastest-growing community.
As mayor, she gradually grew frustrated with Alaska’s “good ol’ boy” style of governance -- so she decided to do something about it. She ran for governor in 2006 and won, defeating popular former Democratic Gov. Tony Knowles


With the selection of Gov. Palin we are now seeing the possiblity of the return of the women’s vote as well as the Catholic and other wide segiments of hte political landscape.

McCain shown again that he is a Mavrick by choosing Sara, a women, in comparison to not choosing Hillary.

The Great Messiah Obama!

A stage event is being held the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's makes his big speech which will be held on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek Roman type temple.



The Great Messiah will then appeal before the waiting crowd of Liberals and and Hollywood Elites on the fifty yard line in the same stadium used by the Denver Broncos. In a stage fitting the role of a God!

Some 80,000 worshippers will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Parthenon, to accept the party's nomination for president. He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor. The Great Messiah Obama will suddenly appeal in the heavens and give his grace to the thousands awaiting to hear the words of the Messiah!

This comedy show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination. from a Colosseum that even Nero would appreciate And Shakespeare's if alive could take note! There stands Plagiarism Joe Biden taking notes from Obama, so that he may repeat word for word what Obama has said!

The Great Messiah Obama will then enter the stage and the only thing lacking is him coming out in a Tonga and Violin. Doing his imitation of Nero. Nero plays while Rome burns and Obama speaks while the crowd faints! I wondering if he has a inflated image of himself? Well by all indication the answer is yes!

Plagiarism Joe?

Ok, Now that we have learn that Joe Biden of Delaware is now Obama's choice for Vice President. We can see that this pick is the equal to the 1972 race of un qualified liberal rejects. I remember the days when Senator Joe was forced out of the 1988 U.S. Presidential race (but remained in the U.S. Senate) when it was discovered that parts of his campaign speeches were plagiarized from speeches by British Labour party leader Neil Kinnock and Robert Kennedy. As a student at the Syracuse University Law School In 1965 Biden plagiarized while writing a paper in a legal methods course which he failed because of that copied paper. One must remember Dan Quayle when he corrected a student's spelling of "potato" to "potatoe" at an elementary school! Would any Republican who did this in today's world get away with the record Joe has? I think not!

John Nichols from "The Nation" wrote in Feb of 2007 of Joe Biden:

"The senator from Delaware has a very long history of lodging metatarsals in his oral orifice. And his reference to a more attractive and articulate senator and presidential contender, Illinoisan Barack Obama, as a "clean" African American was, while spectacular in its senselessness, oddly Bidenesque. This is not to suggest that the senior senator is a racist, nor even that he's some kind of neatness freak. (Biden says that, by "clean" he meant "fresh," which seems about right.) Rather, this is to suggest that Joe Biden is still Joe Biden, the linguistically lumbering, intellectually inelegant Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman whose "plan" for solving the Iraq mess is so convoluted that even he has trouble explaining it.

Can old Joey remember whose speeches are whose and not put his plagiarism aside and write his own speeches? This is turning out to be a fun race and even if McCain loses we can all enjoy the show! But I tell ya, if McCain pick let's say Romney, it will be a interesting race! But I was right Obama pick Joey, makes me proud!

Above Obama's Pay Grade?

I do believe Obama may have really came close to losing the election with this reply and in doing so sank the Democrats from regaining the White House. This is a classic blunder that even John Kerry made when he didn’t answer the swift Boaters and now Obama just took out a lease on that very same boat. Is it me or do the Democrats really know what they are going when picking a candidate?

Not answering, and saying what he felt about Abortion was in effect a major, what intellectionals would say, a classic blunder in others words a boo boo. Now is the time for McCain to jump and do jump all over this answer.

Oh you know the idea that we are assigned pay grade is purely a market value system and when Obama use that expression he sheds allot of light on the candidate. Obama is vying for the highest office and that is above his pay grade to answer a simple question?

Lets all example the question Rick Warren asked Obama: “At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?”

A very simple question one where he could and should have answered without back peddling. Instead the answer was:

“Whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade. “


"Specificity" is the key this his answer. The word meaning as: "explicitly set forth and define". Which he did not! Obama employes a new concept? If you can't answer it use a none specific answer to answer a specific question!

One could say this is going to be a standard reply one way or another for nearly every question and has been for Obama. He has dodge nearly every question given to him as in effect above his pay grade answer!

Drilling for oil is above his pay grade! No solutions. Of course that is really above Obama's pay grade.

War on Terrorism is above his pay grade!

The economy is above his pay grade!

“Change” has been Obama's campaign slogan and yet when asked if he has any real programs it more going to slogans rather than solutions.

He has relied on, I am sorry, his minority status as way to get around answering the hard questions. Instead of coming up with real programs we handed a platform of “Change” with nothing to back it up with.

If Obama thinks he can past this off to the American people he needs right now to rethink it. Obama campaign is a hot air balloon with a nice slogan on the front of it and allot of hot air in it. And if he picks Senator Joe Biden, as his running mate more hot air will be a coming. Less we forget how Biden habit of plagerizing his speeches and articles.

This campaign will look more and more like the McGovern in 1972. Lord help he Democrats if Obama’s pay grade policy is always employed as way of not answering important questions! Has anyone notice that both McGovern and Obama have the very same smile?

Hunkabee's Mormon Bigotry

McCain selection for the Vice Presidency seem to be of great interest to Hunkabee these days and we could assume that for a moment Mike Hunkabee is wheeling and dealing in the background for this election. McCain choice could help unite the party and could win the election against one of the most Marxist liberals in he history of the Democrat party.

Hunkabee seems however less interested in uniting the party and more interested in losing he election. Perhaps thinking he would be the great white conservative savior in 2012 if McCain loses!

Hunkabee seems to open his mouth recently chastizing and warning McCain not to pick Romney for the Republican Party Vice president. Before November’s election McCain cannot win a election without the Mormon vote. There remains the question: did Huckabee undermine Romney’s campaign because of bigotry? What seems to many Mormons is that he did in southern states such as North Carolina and Florida where there was a chance of Romney winning.

Given current American voting trends , he would have no chance if he even thought about picking the Huckzbe as his Vice President without the swing states of Nevada (about 10% Mormon), Oregon (4%) and New Mexico (4%) will swing to the Democrats.

Remember that President Bush lost Oregon by a couple thousand votes in 2000; New Mexico by a few hundred and picked it up in 2004 by an equally slim margin.

Besides losing swing states in 2008, Republicans could also lose solidly red states if McCain embrace the Vice President with this kind of bigotry.

What would losing a large voting block in, if not the states of, Utah (1.8 million Mormons), Idaho (15%), Wyoming (14%), and Arizona (6%) (you don’t hear McCain bashing Mormons, do you?

In fact he’s done just the opposite) do for Republican hopes in 2008? Defections of Mormons in Colorado (131,000) and California (750,000) might cost a few Republican congressional seats. Losing the most-solidly Republican block in the country, the Mormons, or even putting it in play, would turn red states blue and eliminate any hopes of Republicans holding Colorado in the Senate or retaining the White House.
Mormons are tolerant folks, but they don’t tolerate anti-Mormon hostility, especially the bigotry that has been demonstrated by Huckabee’s supporters and, by extension Huckabee, for Huckabee’s failure to call them on it.

So, when all of these Mormons decide that they are not going to tolerate an anti-Mormon bigot along side McCain, will Mormons in those states vote for a third party or just stay home?

Both options are being openly discussed in Mormon circles. If it is a third party, Mormons trend Libertarian; but that is beside the point. I have many Mormon friends who see Bob Barr the former Republican turn Libertarian, as a alternative to McCain, if he picks a intolerant Bigot. How could a Mormon vote for McCain with a Vice President be who is completely intolerant of their faith?

Mormons have marched along supporting the candidates of the evangelical right for decades (who voted more reliably for Bush or Reagan than Mormons?

Some Mormons and many others he happens to be talking to are ready to leave the party if Huckabee is nominated for Vice President or his anti-Mormon campaign continues even when his nomination is impossible and should not be tolerated in the party. He seem to think that without the Momron vote McCain can still win? I wondering what Huckabee is smoking?


What if Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona turns blue? Impossible? Not if a anti-Mormon is on the Republican ticket. Many critics say Romney can’t win without evangelicals, well, Huckabee or any other Republican can’t win without Mormons in 2008. It’s a two-way street. No Republican will win the presidency in 2008 without Mormons.

Before anyone discounts the idea of blue Mormons, consider that Harry Reid, the Democratic leader in the Senate is, a Mormon, who, despite being a Democrat, has enjoyed splitting the typically Republican Mormon vote in Nevada.

More telling is that Utah County, the home of BYU and the most densely Mormon and Republican area in Utah had a Democrat representing it in Congress for most of the 1990s.

If anyone has any questions about how strongly many Mormons feel about this, let me say that they are more likely to support Mike Huckabee for Vice President as Jesse Jackson would support David Duke.

Terrorism and the Presidential Election 2008

The 11 March 2004 Madrid train bombings consisted of a series of coordinated bombings against the Cercanías (commuter train) system which in turn kill 191 people and wounding 1,755.

This happen during the peak of rush hour ten explosions occurred aboard four commuter trains (cercanías). All the affected trains were traveling on the same line and in the same direction between Alcalá de Henares and the Atocha station in Madrid. The aim by some was to influence Spain's general elections that happen three day later. Please watch video below:



We Can't afford to have our Presidential elections on November 4th be influence by this type of terrorism. Can it happen here and will it happen, it took years to plan and execute for 9-11 and we are about due as many terrorist experts have said. This is of course not a prediction, but it could happen and somehow I think the terrorist havn't yet cast their vote yet as they did in Spain. If Obama looks to lose this election Al queda may have something to say about it. The conservative government change hands just after these attacks to a liberal Marxist Government. I do know that many of my liberal friends will complaint about this editorial. Well so be it.

The Party of Big Oil Prices: The Democrat Party!

The time has come for the Democrats to come out and be honest and tell the American people, that they are the party of Big Oil Prices. That their solution to our current high prices is high prices! That they are willing to let prices go up on nearly everything we buy from Gasoline to what we buy in our grocery stores.

In a recent poll nearly 75 percent of people in this country want to drill and yet our democrat friends will not do so.

They are willing to let the economy go down the drain in order to what Speaker Pelosi calls protecting the Planet, Rather than to saving the economy.

She close up the House early and when running home to San Francisco to the Liberal bastion where no one has to worry about the day to day worries of making ends meet. And yet she has even told her colleagues that it is perfectly ok to support drilling even as she blocks it! Just this past weekend Nancy Pelosi said that drilling would not effect the current prices of Oil, yet in the past month since President Bush lifted the the presidential Ban offshore drill the current price of a Barrel of has drop from 147.00 to $125.93, according to the Energy Information administration. I wonder if Speaker Pelosi is paying attention. Or is she just not telling the truth?

In the meantime we have a Democrat Presidential candidate who energy policy is inflating your tires along with his head!


They the Democrat Party wants to have it both ways. The talking points most recently when it comes to the party are as follows:

1) You can’t Drill your way out of this situation?

2) The millions of Aces of land the Oil companies are not drilling on?

3) Saving the environment?

4) Drilling now will not lower the current price of oil?

5) We must take from take money from the Oil companies and invest it into alternative energy?

6) These alternative energy sources need our tax money to make us energy independent?

If you are asking yourself why I include a question mark at the end of these Democrat talking points is because in reality they have no real energy policy and they have no alternative to the current price of energy in this country. They alternatives are 30 years into the future. They are the party of high oil and energy prices! The higher the prices the more they like it!

The more the price raises the more dependent the American people will be on the Government. We would trade the evil foreign oil barons for the environmental whackos! Makes one feel warm and fuzzy inside, as your freezing you butt off in the middle of this winter!

Questions to the World

This weeks Column I seem to have no Idea what to write and it’s not for the lack of trying.

Barak Obama is a question in himself and yet I not ready to write something about a man whose Resume to become the most powerful man, the President can be written on a index card. So more important questions I need answering? I have decided to asked very simple questons in hopes to get very simple answers.

1) If the Ginger Ale is “Canada Dry” in the States is it “United States Dry” in Canada?

2) Why do we spell Ketchup or Catsup two different ways, and which one is correct?

3) Does Barak Obama know that if he raises taxes on Big Oil that it will be the consumer who pays the tax?

4) When you look a man in the eyes to see if he is lying, what would happen if the man is Blind?

I will have more questions to asked the world in the next few months as soon as these are answer!
